Middle Eastern
This reference genome is built from the gnomAD v4 — Genomes Middle Eastern (MID) ancestry group, registered under PRJNA398795, aggregating short-read WGS from ~294 individuals assigned to the MID genetic-ancestry cluster. Middle Eastern cohorts display clinal structure across the Levant, Arabian Peninsula, North Africa, and the Iranian Plateau, with elevated runs of homozygosity in more endogamous subgroups and allele-frequency gradients bridging Europe, Africa, and South Asia. Here we collapse the study-wide SNP allele counts into a per-locus consensus genotype baseline and use it as a comparative anchor across populations.
