This reference genome is built from the Allele Frequency Aggregator (ALFA) — Latin American 2 group, an NCBI umbrella resource that aggregates SNP allele frequencies from multiple dbGaP-contributed studies and is registered under PRJNA507278. The Latin American panels in ALFA are partitioned into 1 and 2 clusters to reflect differing study compositions and ancestry mixtures; the Latin American 2 set (≈610 samples here) captures admixed profiles with varying proportions of Indigenous American, European, and African ancestries and marked heterogeneity across regions (e.g., Mexico, Caribbean, Central and South America). Here we collapse the study-wide allele counts into a per-locus consensus genotype baseline and use it as a comparative anchor across populations.
