South Asian
This reference genome is built from the gnomAD v4 — Genomes South Asian (SAS) ancestry group, registered under PRJNA398795, aggregating short-read whole-genome data from ~4.8k individuals assigned to the SAS genetic-ancestry cluster. South Asian cohorts exhibit substantial substructure shaped by geography, language families, and historical endogamy, with linkage-disequilibrium patterns generally intermediate between Europe and East Asia and pockets of extended haplotypes from founder effects. Here we collapse the study-wide SNP allele counts into a per-locus consensus genotype baseline and use it as a comparative anchor across populations.
